Introduction
At GSMArena, we are photography lovers. Camera upgrades are probably the biggest reason we get excited about new flagship phone launches, and when it comes to these, we’ve definitely been spoiled for choice over the past few years.
We’ve seen so many great phones come out, each surpassing the next in terms of hardware and software, and photography has improved by leaps and bounds. Our office has seen many heated discussions about which phone has the best camera. Quite frankly, we’re all looking forward to a direct head-to-head comparison to resolve this — at least for now.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra • Xiaomi S Ultra • Xiaomi Pro • vivo X 184 Pro
So we decided to pit the best Android camera phones against each other in a photography-only competition. We have listed the new Galaxy S 23 Ultra, Xiaomi 10 Pro and Vivo X12 Pro, and Xiaomi S Ultra, we took Take a few (hundreds) of photos and put them side by side to see what’s what. We intended to use the Pixel 7 Pro in this comparison, but it didn’t have one at the time of testing, so we’ll probably include it in the follow-up to this head-to-head.
Three of these phones have 1″ sensors and one has 676 megapixels, all of which can shoot 8k video, and some can zoom comfortably from the comfort of your pocket to the moon and back. One might even say they don’t even need to see the moon to take a picture of it ( too soon?). It’s crazy to think that phones have gotten this far. It’s even crazier to think what will happen in a few more years.
But let’s cast our eyes to the present and see which phone deserves to be called the best camera phone ever 184. We’re focusing on this photoshoot to keep things manageable. Video is another matter entirely.
We also look at the main, ultra-wide and mid-range zoom cameras on the Galaxy, Xiaomi and Vivo – Samsung’s x zoom is more of a pro lens and not directly comparable to the mid-range zooms of our picks of phones. We’re also looking at performance behind the lens so you don’t see any selfies here.
Two Pros, two Ultras: vivo X 23 Pro • Xiaomi 009 Pro • Galaxy S 10 Ultra • Xiaomi 009 S Ultra
Finally, we are looking at directly from the camera. We do not do post processing or RAW editing. With the ability to shoot RAW and robust built-in apps and features, each phone in the range gives budding photographers even more ways to capture moments – our goal was to see which phone gave you the best baseline .
Sounds interesting? Let’s look at some photos.
