Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia retain their top three spots in the AP Top 25 in Week 2 of the season.
Each of these teams had an impressive weekend. The Buckeyes had the best win of the group stage, beating the No. 5 Notre Dame team in the preseason standings.
Defending champion Bulldogs beat Oregon 49-3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta State, had 7 touchdowns in the first 7 possessions. They swapped places with Ohio State in the rankings.

Alabama was the No. 1 team in the preseason with 54 votes out of 63 No. 1s. Coach Nick Saban’s team looked dominant in a 55-0 win over Utah State, with more than double the rushing yards (278) than the Aggies’ total (136).
Defending Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young rushes for 100 yards five times.
Ohio State got off to a slow start at home against Notre Dame with two touchdowns in the second half to win 21-10. It was the team’s first victory over a top-five opponent since the Buckeyes beat Clemson in the college football playoff semifinals in January 2021.
Fighting Irish are one of two teams in the top 10 of the preseason to lose this weekend . Utah (No. 7 last week) was defeated by Florida in Gainesville, Anthony Richardson’s one-yard touchdown with 1:25 left in the fourth quarter and the Gators with less than 20 seconds left The interception won 29-26.
