“Sorry, guys—postponing the album for another four months,” singer Madison Beer jokes as she and director Aerin Moreno meet to discuss the finer points of her next music video. But don’t worry, it won’t be quite that long. Beer’s sophomore album, Silence Between Songs, is due out on September 15, and in anticipation Vogue recently caught up with her for a day of vintage shopping and A-plus food.
Beer’s first stop? Reformation Vintage on LA’s chic Melrose Avenue, where she finds a cute pair of shoes that fit her perfectly (“And they match my outfit? It was meant to be!”) and reflects on her style. “I feel like I’ve balanced this mixture of girly with still comfortable—like low, baggy jeans,” she says. A pair of overalls quickly gets the thumbs-up, along with a sweatshirt and some sunglasses (which, it should be said, are vintage Chanel; how could Beer resist?).
Once Beer’s shopping itch is scratched, she’s off to Found Oyster in East Hollywood, where she scoops up smoked-fish dip with Ritz crackers (yum). Back at her house, Beer introduces us to her producer Leroy Clampitt, who’s helping Beer finish up some of her soon-to-be-released songs. “For me, having people that I can really trust, in arguably the most intimate settings—it’s so important because I really have to feel like I can pour my heart out and not feel judged,” Beer tells Vogue of her creative collaborators. “I’m very, very lucky.” And we will be too when that new album drops!
