until the start of the NFL season With less than a month to go, the San Francisco 49ers aren’t sure if they’ll have Jimmie Ward available in Week 1.
The San Francisco 49ers kick off the 2022 NFL season at 1:00pm ET in Chicago on September 11th. But after head coach Kyle Shanahan injured his hamstring in practice on Sunday, Jimmie Ward wasn’t confident about his safety.
“It’s a pretty serious hamstring injury…so we’ll see it in the next few weeks performance,” Kyle Shanahan said.
Ward played 16 games last year and had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. If Ward can’t leave, losing him would be a blow to the lineup, with no clear replacement for Ward.
“We’ll see how it goes on the list, we might tweak the nickel a little bit for some people,” Shanahan said. “But hopefully we’ll have more people here soon.”
Based on Shananah’s comments, that does sound like an injury is possible Probably lingering, they feared he wouldn’t be ready. Over the next few days, as the preseason continues, it will be obvious if they bring in more defensive backs to try and screen for Ward.
Hopefully, he can recover quickly from the injury, they are just being cautious about safety, when the season starts next month, the 49ers Nothing to worry about.
