Are you ready to go back to the Titanic ? December 19 marks James Cameron’s
Well, after a quarter of a century, the king of the world has finally had enough: Cameron has compiled countless resources to prove that there is only one People can be placed on that makeshift raft. “We’ve done a scientific study to calm this down and put a stake in its heart once and for all,” said a utterly cool Cameron while promoting his latest film, Avatar: The Way of Water . “We’ve since done a thorough forensic analysis with a hypothermia expert who copied the raft from the movie, and we’re going to do something special with it in February.”
As directors always do, we had a beautiful restoration in honor of the film’s anniversary – and a very unromantic feature about buoyancy and hypothermia? — which will be in theaters over Valentine’s Day weekend. “[Jack] needed to die,” Cameron continued. “It’s like Romeo and Juliet
. It’s a movie about love, sacrifice and death. Love is measured by sacrifice…maybe Years later, I won’t have to face this anymore.”
For those of us who haven’t (and won’t!) let go Humans, here are five things you never knew about the Titanic
.
1. Kate Winslet had to Convincing Leonardo DiCaprio to take the role of Jack Dawson. After Winslet discovered that DiCaprio was hesitant to take the role, the actress approached him during the Cannes Film Festival to convince him to take the part. “I was thinking, ‘I’m going to talk him into doing this, because I wouldn’t be doing it without him, and that’s all,'” Winslet said. “‘I’ll get him.’ Because he’s so fucking smart. He’s a fucking genius, that’s definitely why.”
2. A number of stars have been pitched for the role of Jack Dawson – including Christian Bale and Tom Cruise – but the most surreal up-close cast is Jeremy Sisto, aka from Clueless Elton. “It was one of many jobs that I didn’t get,” Sisto said. “I read with Kate and the other three actresses. I was just wildly inspired by it and kind of sad when the character didn’t turn out my way.”

3. Winslet and DiCaprio’s friendship is the gift that keeps on giving, but, like all good relationships, it got off to a bit of an awkward start. The story goes that DiCaprio walks into Winslet’s dressing room before I ask you to draw me like your French girl scene and finds the actress completely naked. “I’m wearing makeup – no makeup – and Leo,” Winslet says in 1997. “He saw me and said, ‘Whoa!’ I said, ‘We’re going to be like this all day; we might as well get over it now. That breaks the ice.”
