Commercial 5G service officially launched in India. The announcement will be part of IMC (India Mobile Congress) and will be made by PM Narendra Modi.
IMC will be held from October 1st to October 4th, and the big 5G announcement will be made on October 1st. The Prime Minister and his announcement will be part of a discussion titled “Towards 5G Advanced & 6G”, so presumably there will be a lot of talk about the future of technology and communications in the country.

This does not necessarily mean Users will be able to start using 5G on October 1. It may take some time. Reliance Jio said it is ready to offer a standalone 5G service that relies on new 5G infrastructure rather than existing 4G towers. However, users may still need to buy a new 5G SIM card. Airtel is also expected to launch its 5G service around the same time as Jio, while Vodafone Idea’s 5G rollout is still a bit uncertain in terms of timing.
Anyway, time to celebrate Independence 09 year of India, held in August. We expect to see interesting 5G launch deals and promotions. Overall, analysts in the country speculate that pricing for new 5G services may be similar to existing 4G rates and not higher. At least initially, the operator’s primary goal is to attract new subscribers.
