7 Chanel Foundations to Complete Any Look

In Hailey Bieber’s Vogue Beauty Secrets collection, we see her mixing Chanel foundation with her beauty brand Rhode’s Peptide Infused Serum Pump Together, create her date night makeup look. While this technique of formulating a light, moisturizing skin balm (in lieu of off-the-shelf complexion products) initially caught our attention, it’s also a reminder that Chanel’s foundations are really good.

Bieber is certainly not the only one who prefers the double The star of C’s complexion products. On a recent episode of Natalia Bryant, she used the brand’s complexion: “Hilary Duff has this Chanel complexion, and since I saw After it, I’m like ‘omg, I need this,’ because I think it’s perfect for a glistening routine,” she admits, tapping the formula with her fingers. What’s more, the foundation has also been taking over our TikTok feed. In the hashtag #chanelfoundation, which has garnered 5.1 million views to date, users have detailed their experience with the chosen formula. As it turns out, these points help inform the purchase, because, as any Chanel beauty lover will tell you, there are plenty of products to choose from. To further break down the foundation lineup, we asked Chanel makeup artist Tyron Machhausen.

First, Machhausen says a good foundation should nourish and benefit your specific skin needs. Think about it: for example, acne-prone, sensitive, or mature. “It should melt into the skin, look like the skin, and have staying power,” he continued, adding that the look you want will also inform which product to choose. “Do you want to even out your skin, just get rid of some redness, [or] do you want full coverage and really sculpt your skin, etc?”—those are a few questions he’ll keep in mind.

If you want your look to emulate this season’s latest makeup trends, Machhausen matches your skin! “It’s all about glowing skin in an otherworldly way—less product, but more strategically placed,” he says, noting the departure from the stylized, flawless makeup of years past. “It’s okay to use less product, for example, under the eyes for a more realistic and believable look. Not every inch of the face needs an equal amount of foundation.” Good news for those who prefer a minimalist look Yes: Any foundation will do! According to Machhausen, just hide where you need coverage. That said, read on to learn more about Chanel foundation, according to pro makeup artists.

How to Apply Chanel Foundation

“I always try various applications depending on the look I want to achieve,” Machhausen Say. “For example, if I use Ultra Le Teint, I like to use a large, fluffy brush, such as a blush brush #65 for an ultra-light airbrush effect. I put a small amount of foundation on the Take the brush and swirl it once on the product, take a small amount evenly and apply to the face. This way, I was able to achieve a “barely there” look even with full coverage foundation. I also like to use the small concealer brush on the Apply foundation where needed for a very sheer yet even complexion.”
