Apple and Samsung’s smartwatches are released every year, while Google’s Fitbit line tends to be refreshed every two years. According to industry sources, Google will be doing its annual release cycle on the Pixel Watch. We can expect a new Pixel Watch, which will likely be called the Pixel Watch 2 later this year alongside the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.
By the way, for the record, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro should arrive in October, when the online giant has historically launched its flagships. The only exception is the Pixel 5, which launched in September.
We still don’t have any details about the Pixel Watch 2. However, some speculation includes that the overall dome design is unlikely to change drastically, just improved, with a larger display and smaller bezels possible and hopefully. Perhaps a similar design also means that the strap connection mechanism will remain the same, allowing users to inherit the current Pixel Watch strap. In terms of internals, we may see the Snapdragon W5+ debut with its 4nm manufacturing process, which should allow the next Pixel Watch to last longer on a single charge. We’d also like to see different sizes of the watch, but there’s no sign of that yet.
Google does have an upcoming Google I/O event scheduled for May 10 and this is the Google Pixel When will the 7a and the Pixel Fold likely debut. Google could also provide some teasers and additional information about other devices like the Pixel Watch 2, and that’s it. Hopefully we’ll learn more as we get closer to the October release date.
