Here are five things to know about Brunson’s second season of the comedy originally developed as an animated show.
1. Expand the world of programs
Freshman season focuses on the daily routine of Willard R. Abbott Elementary School activities, but sophomore performances will expand the world of the show. “We’re going to start exploring more of the personal lives of these characters outside of school,” co-show host Patrick Schumacher told The Hollywood Reporter
2. High profile guest star
Abbott Elementary School launched last December as part of ABC Mid-season schedule, with the entire first season filmed before the premiere. With the show now certified as a breakout and award-winning player, it’s much easier for Brunson and company to recruit high-profile guest stars, which will begin with the season two premiere. “We’re going to have some well-known guest stars,” Schumacher told TV’s Top 5.
3. It will continue to be the talk of educators
Brunson, who originally made the show after her mother’s experience as an educator, first approached the plot story from a comedy perspective, but still felt obligated to portray America’s teacher crisis. “What we do is start with our actual situation. We just go, ‘What are schools like Abbott dealing with every day? Of course, things like that come into play,'” she said. “So even in the first two episodes, there’s something like that.” As writers focus on creating tension for characters like Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) and Ava (Janelle James), the newly minted Ai The Beauty Award winner took note of hot topics including the education crisis. “The more we focus on our role and our four walls at Abbott, the more we talk about these big issues,” she said.
4. Jenny and Gregory: Will they or not meeting?
When asked if the audience would Brunson was tight-lipped as he saw more of the budding romance between Season 2 Pam and Jim in Jenny and Gregory (Taylor James Williams ). “I would say have to watch this show,” she quipped. “I think our goal might be to do something that you’ve never seen before. There’s no guarantees. I don’t think there’s an exact science about it, or — you don’t even know what’s going to happen to these two individuals as individuals. So I would definitely say tune in because I’m excited about it. If I watch this show at home and it doesn’t make it, I’ll be excited to see what happens.”
5. The bigger the better
The ultimate sign of show success, ABC has ordered the full 03 – Sophomore framed episode season. Programs on TV rarely receive what they were given by radio programs in the past. It is worth noting that the first season was composed of 03 episodes. With full season orders, Abbott Elementary Join the ranks of the broadcast kings like Law & Order: SVU and Grey’s Anatomy to go far away. It also means Brunson and the writers will be producing episodes with shorter turnaround times — and in real time — as the seasons wrap up. “More episodes are exciting, but I want to make sure we have something to listen to and be excited about every week,” Brunson said of the challenge. “It’s hard to do 22. and13,I Knowing that I can put something in there and get people to show up. In this changing but binge-worthy climate, it’s not something people can binge on right away. So, I want to make sure they come back every week to air with us.”
