“Sorry to all my fans, but #MentalHealth is real And I’m not going to play in the ring,” Adrian Bronner wrote in a caption on Instagram in his latest post. “I’ve seen a lot of people die [of their] boxing career and it’s just something I wouldn’t do. Just pray for me. I love boxing as a sport so much that I didn’t give it my all, I feel like I did Very short because my mind is not 100% there and if I make that mistake again I’ll be damned. I need to make some changes to be better instead of worrying about how other people feel and pleasing them when actually , I have nothing to prove to anyone. I’m a four-time world champion in four different weight classes, and if I never put my gloves on again, I feel safe to say I’ll be in #BoxingHallofFame. So, I have to step back The next step, overcoming this hurdle, and then putting my life within a circle. I know I’m far from done with this sport. See you soon.”
Figuero Jr. Ya was less friendly with Broner’s comments, calling his mental health issues an “excuse” to pull out of the fight.
As of press time, the card will be on schedule, with the co-main event being promoted to headlines.
