Admittedly, advertising is not a new concept on Apple devices. In fact, some of your built-in iPhone, iPad or Mac apps are already using them. From App Store “Recommended” search results to banners in Apple News, you’ve probably come across a few. The truth is, according to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, there’s a good chance we’ll see more of this — whether we like it or not. As Gurman goes on to point out, given Apple’s stance on privacy. Personalized ads can be turned off, assuming the device owner is aware of the option and knows how to access it (go to Settings, Privacy, Apple Ads), but this will only prevent ads from using demographics. Gurman believes that due to some activity within Apple’s advertising team and the suggestion on the most recent earnings call And, the company will eventually expand its ad coverage to other first-party apps and services. This can mean seeing pop-ups or banners when using the Maps app, and finding more sponsored content in other digital Apple Stores like Apple Books and Apple Podcasts. Apple might offer publishers the ability to pay to appear at the top of search results (similar to the App Store now) and could lead to more typical in-app ads.

Apple TV+’s extended hierarchy is also being theorized, which could result in streaming The media service offering ad-supported and ad-free options is similar to what other platforms like Netflix and Disney+ have been doing, although so far this has remained largely speculative. Apple does appear to be interested in expanding its advertising potential, but we’re currently unsure if we’ll see a significant increase in advertising on Apple devices in the near future.
