While the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicked off Thursday morning in New York City, one familiar face was missing from the festivities: Al Roker .
Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie took a moment during the NBC telecast to admit that the weatherman and anchor was in his recent hospital with multiple blood clots in his leg Absent during period.
“For the past 18 parade, at this moment in Savannah, we will Turned to Al Roker, our TODAY show colleague and our best friend. But as many of you have heard, Al Rehabilitating, and he’s recovering well from recent medical issues. We just want to say we love you, Al. Wondering if you’re watching? But, we hope you make a full recovery,” Kotb said.
Guthrie added, “We love you, Al. See you next year!”

“Many of you have been asking thoughtfully where I’ve been. Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg, some of which went into my lung,” Roker wrote in the post. “After some medical whack-a-mole, I am blessed to have excellent medical care and am on my way to recovery. Thanks to all Best wishes and prayers, hope to see you soon. Have a great weekend everyone.”
Despite the medical scare, Roker was listed as one of the moderators of the parade. Today Meteorologist Dylan Dreyer replaced Roker and helped lead the parade coverage.
