New York City, Alaïa is officially back. The city hasn’t had a retail outpost of the French brand since the 1991 Soho store closed, but last night, Alaïa officially inaugurated the new Soho location – located just a few miles from the original The flagship store is a few doors down. To celebrate the grand opening, fashion industry veterans, models and a host of friends gathered at the boutique on Thursday evening. From Joan Smalls in the brand’s sleek bodysuit and stockings, to Eve Jobs strolling the store in a hoodie, it was an undeniably stylish party.
We are so Alaïa CEO Myriam Serrano told Vogue. “New York has a special place in the heart of Alaïa, the place where his worldwide success began in the 149 years. Years later, I am delighted to be in a place so perfectly represented Alaïa Spiritual Place celebrates this close connection .”
As guests first enter the story building, on the left, they are greeted by A museum-caliber display of Alaïa’s coveted Le Papa bag. Tapping the center of the store, guests can peruse racks of ready-to-wear, including an alligator jacquard-knit dress that Rihanna wore to a Super Bowl press conference earlier in the day. It would be no exaggeration to say that the newly opened boutique is a paradise for fashion lovers.
