Taylor Swift never takes a day off. In between selling out her Eras Tour and making late-night trips to the studio, the singer has been doing stealthy album promotion in the form of her wardrobe. Lately, Swift has been spotted sporting a variety of light blue outfits, a signifier of her forthcoming album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version). The color has become something of a flag to fans, a key to her next project.
Last night Swift made a callback to the days of her famous “squad,” when she had dinner at Emilio’s Ballato in New York with longtime friends Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Cara Delevingne, Zoe Kravitz, and Channing Tatum.
Swift left the restaurant wearing a ribbed baby blue skater dress which featured a tapered waist and a flared, tiered skirt. She paired the dress with a pair of matching blue platform heels that gave the look a ’70s flair, and added a simple white crossbody bag, which she kept slung over her shoulder.
The “Lover” singer first introduced a series of 1989-inspired baby blue looks during the last of her August Los Angeles shows, including—notably—a voluminous floor-sweeping, crystal-studded Nicole + Felicia ballgown. Since then it’s been nonstop promo, including at collaborator Jack Antonoff’s wedding to actor Margaret Qualley last month. Swift’s lacy, asymetrical Erdem number was more than an excellent wedding guest dress—it was a clue. We wouldn’t expect anything less from the queen of Easter eggs.
