If — for reasons that are decidedly unrelated to a certain HBO series — you suddenly want to book an Italian vacation, ALC has a wardrobe ready for you. Inspired by Positano, the Pre-Fall collection features crochet dresses and oversized raffia bags in sunny hues and prints inspired by Italian stone steps. Although ALC introduced swimwear in spring, this season it’s a big part of the collection, with clean, minimalist silhouettes in punchy prints and solid colors.
Designer Andrea Lieberman stresses that she is trying to “create this wardrobe for our customers and our women.” She describes the collection as “clothes that are real. Effortless, If you will.” Admittedly, much of it was vacation-centric: A soft brown crochet dress with a polo and V-neck was perfect as cover. The English embroidered suits—one white shorts and crop top, the other a black initials camisole and apron—were in desperate need of an aperitif as an accessory. As a result, several outfits that felt less festive felt a little jarring in the lookbook. A crisp white cropped jacket and similarly structured shorts were cute, but stood out against a cream yellow bodysuit and strapless sundress. An ALC client doesn’t have to worry about what she’s packing for summer, though.
