Two of the most exciting red carpet stars of the night joined forces on last night’s red carpet: Alexa Demie and Taylor Russell. Fresh from her Bones and All
press conference, Russell has been one of Hollywood’s boldest new venturers, taking on the stylish Loewe, Schiaparelli and Tom Ford era of Gucci designs I have a soft spot. Meanwhile, Demie often wears flashy Balenciaga and vintage pieces (often in black—her color of choice). Both actors have their own distinct styles, but last night at a holiday party at Moët & Chandon in New York City, they proved they’re a fashion match made in heaven.
Both fashion plates opted for sleek and sculptural black ensembles. Demie went the retro route in a corset-style suit from Alaïa’s spring 1992 collection. The square neckline and peak of white lace felt sophisticated, yet freshened up thanks to the wasp waist. Meanwhile, Russell opted for a more sci-fi look from Schiaparelli’s spring 2022 collection. The bulbous piping of her dress was reminiscent of Saturn’s rings. In a pairing moment, both stars wore Christian Louboutin black pointy heels and even held hands on the carpet.
So, was this an impromptu and unexpected twin moment, or were the two star friends calling each other before the event? They were in the 2022 movie Waves together, so they have history. We bet on the latter and hope for more doubles from now on, please.
