The plastic in Mean Girls almost looks a little different.
Amanda Seyfried in The Karen Smith film, originally auditioning for the role of Regina George, was eventually cast by Rachel McAdams.
“I flew to LA with my mom for the first time. It was very exciting,” Seyfried in a recent interview TellVanity Fair. “I first met Lacey Chabert, Lindsay Lohan was in the room, Blake Lively played Karen, and then I was Regina.”
Emmy winning actress left the room thinking she was going to get a call or tell her Knowing she got or didn’t get the queen bee part, but instead they made her another offer.
“I flew home and they said, ‘We think you’re a better fit for Karen,'” she said. “So I was like, ‘Oh God , ok, sure.'”
Mean Girls Casting director Marci Liroff previously told Cosmopolitan UK Lively was the first choice as Karen. Gossip Girl Alumni did not finish filming Travel Sisterhood Pants However.
“She took the final test, but at some point some filmmakers said to keep looking,” Liloff said. “Amanda Seyfried read for Regina, and we really liked her, but then [filmmaker] Lorne [Michaels] suggested, ‘Why don’t we make her Karen?’”
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Seyfried also praised her for being so sincere and simply trying to make people feel better.
“I think the reason we love Karen so much – and the reason she’s so funny – is because she’s so honest and it’s so beautiful and that’s what makes her so cute ,” said the The Dropout star. “She’s not that bright, but she’s fully aware of it. Everything she reacts to is her truth, her real reaction. I think we all like people like that because we can trust them.”
The Emmy winner rewatched the scene from the movie where Karen suggests to Regina that plastic goes to Taco Bell to help Regina feels better after finding out her boyfriend is cheating on her. She later told Lohan’s Cady Heron that she believed she had ESPN in her chest, which is why they could tell when it had rained.
“She’s the biggest-hearted person,” Seyfried said. “She really believes the best idea is to go to Taco Bell and her secret is that she is psychic and has a sports channel. How can you not fall in love with someone who totally believes she has ESPN?”
