Jéssica Andrade is returning to flyweight for her next UFC fight.
MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck and Damon Martin report that Andrade and Lauren Murphy are expected to share the Octagon at UFC 283, coming in January Pay-per-view event on the 21st, 2023, Jeunesse Arena, Brazil.
After a successful flyweight debut, Andrade has a title shot against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 261, but she is in second Round TKO loss. She bounced back with a first-round TKO Cynthia Calvillo in her next outing, but recently opted to return to strawweight.
The former strawweight champ presented Amanda Lemos at UFC Vegas 52 this April for the first standing arm triangle in UFC history flow circle.
Murphy returned to the victories with a unanimous decision win over Miesha Tate at UFC Long Island in July. Before that, Lucky’s five-game winning streak was broken by the aforementioned Shevchenko, who ended her sixth defense with a fifth-round TKO. Now competing again, the 39-year-old hopes to get Andrade next, as she sees the match as a potential top contender.
Murphy and Andrade are 3rd and 4th in the division, respectively.
With the addition of Andrade to Murphy, UFC 283 has seven bouts confirmed. Here is the current lineup:
- Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno
- Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Ijor Portilla
- Paul Craig vs Johnny Walker
- Josien Nunes vs. Zarah Fairn Dos Santos
- Gregory Rodrigues vs. Brad Tavares
Munir Lazez vs. . Gabriel Bonfin
Jessica Andrade vs. . Lauren Murphy
