Anne Hathaway revives polarizing accessories from the 2000s

It’s Paris Haute Couture Week and the stars of Hollywood are getting ready for all the new fashion shows. I mean, did you even see

Doja Cat and Kylie Jenner at Schiaparelli? Anne Hathaway was out in the French city this morning – and while she may have saved a more glamorous outfit for the front row, her casual off-duty look still looked downright chic. Her choice of hat, in particular, gave us a sense of fashiondeja vu. She revived her polarizing Y2K style, playing Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada.

Controversial accessory? That’s the flower girl hat, which is all the rage in the of stars like Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, and Gwen Stefani (they might even have worn it They fit a skirt over jeans!). The flower girl craze has ebbed and flowed since Miu Miu showcased furry flower girls in its fall 2006 collection, but it’s never been as popular as it was around the turn of the millennium. As the Sachs of the 2006 movie, Hathaway is known for style in many ways, whether she’s wearing an elegant white coat or stacks of Chanel necklaces.

Seeing Hathaway bring it in 2023, well, was an unexpected delight. What she does with her discreet black version is certainly complicated. The star teamed the look with a navy coat, cream sweater and wide-leg jeans. The overall feel is surprisingly soft and classic – not Y2K inspired at all. However, her silver pointy boots added a touch of dynamism. After all, this is fashion week.
