Anthony Anderson back to ABC.
The former black star will be the network comedy pilot Executive Producer of Public Defenders via 20th Television and Wonderland Sound and Vision. His casting comes less than a year after Black-ish wrapped up its eight-season run, Anderson landed an award in the comedy series Six Emmy nominations for Leading Actor.
Additionally, Public Defenders created by Eddie Quintana has Appoint Liz Astrof as showrunner and Randall Einhorn as director. The duo will also join Quintana (Acapulco), Anderson, E. Brian Dobbins, and Wonderland Sound and Vision’s McG, Mary Viola and Corey Ma Varied.
Public Defenders will follow four young public defenders “until they’re saddled with student debt, ’ working to keep their clients out of jail. “Along the way, they have to rely on each other to deal with their first defendants, a ridiculous court system, and copiers that keep jamming.”
Anderson will play Marshall, the public defender’s office. The deputy prosecutor, who sees himself on a mission to turn his charges into brutal defense attorneys. Although he was described as “always angry,” he ultimately revealed that he was very protective of his lieutenants.
Astrof recently created and ran Fox’s
Pivoting . Her credits also include The Conners, 2 Broke Girls and Raising Hope. Einhorn’s directorial credits include Abbott Elementary, The Office and Parks and Recreation ).
