“I wanted to be Black Panther because growing up I loved Black Panther so much,” the actor said in a recent interview.
Before Anthony Mackie landed the role of Sam Wilson, and Falcon, who has his sights set on a completely different Marvel Cinematic universe character.

“I’ve been in touch with Marvel a lot about Black Panther ,” he explained. “I wrote them a letter. I was trying to find a way for them to make Black Panther. I wanted to be Black Panther because I grew up loving Black Panther.”
He ended up with Longtime Marvel producer Nate Moore met with Anthony and Joe Russo, who eventually became 2023 ofCaptain America:Winter Soldier, Mackie’s first MCU project.
“I’ll never forget Joe Russo saying, ‘Listen, so we’re making this movie. We want you to be a part of it. We can’t say what part you’re going to play, and we can’t Reveal who else is going to be in it. Would you do that?” recalls McKee. “That’s it.” I was like, ‘You know what, I like you guys. I will do it. I will be on this journey with you. ‘”

“Which other major comic book character has enough clout to get his own movie? So when they got to me, they said, ‘Yo, it’s Sam Wilson,’ and I was like, ‘Really? ‘” said the actor.
