Another new introduction as part of the new hardware is Emergency SOS via Satellite – a feature that allows you to message emergency services from anywhere in the world – no SIM card or network coverage required. Thanks to a bunch of new sensors, the new iPhones now support crash detection, which can automatically send help if it detects you’re in a crash. 
This is the first iPhone series US without a SIM slot, which means the trial run for SIM slot retirement has officially begun – at least as far as Apple is concerned. If successful, as with nano-SIM, be ready to enter the world of SIM-free smartphones in a few years. What hasn’t changed is the design – the same as on the iPhone and series, as robust as ceramic shielding and improved IPIngress Protection. The battery and charging functions also remain the same.
