Apple iPhone turns 16 today!

Exactly 16 years ago, Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced a brand new product on stage at MacWorld – as As Jobs described it, it was a widescreen iPod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone and a breakthrough Internet communication tool.

The iPhone will continue to overtake the iPod music player, which was discontinued last year. Not only that, but the iPhone is now Apple’s most important product yet. Looking at the company’s most recent earnings report, the iPhone brought in $1 billion in net revenue, more than the Mac, iPad, and wearables combined.

Speaking of iPad branch Moving away from the iPhone, it is currently the world’s leading tablet. Apple’s experience designing iPhone and iPad chipsets led it to move away from Intel and switch the Mac to ARM-based chips as well.

The iPhone is also at the center of a rich ecosystem of accessories – from earbuds to smartwatches – that also brings in billions of dollars in revenue every quarter.

Like it or not, the iPhone has been one of the most influential products of the past few decades and helped shape the mobile industry during that time.
