Apple will increase App Store pricing tiers in several regions starting October 5

App prices on the Apple App Store and in-app purchases are going up in several countries – Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Vietnam, and all currencies using the euro will be affected. The new prices will take effect on October 5.

The price increase in Vietnam also includes Value Added Tax (VAT) and Corporate Income Tax (CIT), both 5%, which Apple must now collect due to new legislation in the country.

If you’re wondering what all this tier of business is, Apple doesn’t allow developers to set prices directly, instead they have to choose one of the tiers. This is an easy way to set global pricing for your app, which also helps avoid constant changes due to currency exchange rate fluctuations.

Auto-renewing subscriptions will not be affected by this price change, and developers may choose to keep the price for existing subscribers. Of course, developers can also drop their apps to lower price tiers to compensate for the increased cost, but it’s up to them.
