This documentary retraces his decades-long bus ride across the U.S.-Mexico border to visit his family and is a wealthy letter Sousa wrote to her grandfather Moreno. Poetic love letter. It’s also a thought-provoking meditation on dignified aging, the state of immigration in the United States, the definition of family and legacy, and the metaphors and text lengths one seeks for love and family.
“Iliana Sosa Quiet Powerful Documentary What We Left Behind
is an ode to the life and legacy of her hardworking grandfather and people like him who determined happiness through love for family and community, not money and cents,” said Array President Tilane Jones. “Array Releasing is excited to amplify this moving story that will resonate with film lovers around the world.”
