To celebrate the launch of Manhattan’s favorite dermatologist, Macrene Alexiades MD, her first body care line, the new Macrene Actives Skyros Collection, guests gathered at Avra Madison for a Greek themed dinner.
The collection consists of creams and lotions formulated entirely with ingredients native to the Greek island of Skyros, where Alexiades spends part of the year. The clean, vegan formula with active ingredients is scientifically proven and dermatologist tested to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while brightening and moisturizing.
The night’s host, Sienna Miller, was one of the skincare guru’s many fans: “You go to Hollywood and everyone looks the same, but Mike Wren understands the importance of being really yourself and your own character,” she said. Miller went on to praise Alexiades’ background in plant science and her use of Greek botanicals in the series, which utilizes medicinal teas consumed on Skyros.
Alexiades also welcomed her guests and explained how the line was established five years ago based on Conceived on the advice of Vogue’s beauty director Celia Ellenberg sat nearby. “We were having dinner in the West Village through a snowstorm, and we had the idea for me to leverage my plant science background,” recalls Alexiades.
In attendance were Brooke Shields, Wendy Murdoch, Cassandra Gray, Lauren Santo Domingo, Huma Abedin, Neil Key Hilton Rothschild, Dylan Lauren and Greek Consul General Dinos Constantinou. All enjoyed Greek dishes, cocktails and wine before rushing home to test new products for themselves.
