AV Rockwell’s directorial debut One Thousand and One will be released in theaters in March 31, 2023. Drama star multi-hyphenated Teyana Taylor .
Focus is working with Sight Unseen, Makeready on the film and Hillman graduate production in-country.
Universal Pictures will distribute the film overseas.
The story follows the unapologetic and free-spirited Inez (Taylor) who kidnaps six year old Terry from the foster care system. In fast-changing New York City, mother and son hold on to their secrets and each other, and set out to restore their sense of home, identity, and stability.
Rockwell is an alumnus of the Sundance Screenwriting and Directing Lab, represented by WME, 2AM and Granderson Des Rochers.
Producers include Eddie Vaisman and Julia Lebedev of Sight Unseen, Lena Waithe and Rishi Rajani of Hillman Grad, and Brad Weston of Makeready. Sight Unseen’s Oren Moverman joins Rachel Jacobs as executive producers.
