'Avatar: Way of Water' star Bailey Bass' inaugural Oscars

Bailey Bass, the rising star of Avatar: The Way of Water, chose to wear one for her first Academy Awards Dresses that embody her commitment to sustainability. “We only have one planet,” Bass said. “And today, we’re proving that sustainability is beautiful.”

This dress was designed by Zac Posen in collaboration with RCGD Global, founded by Suzy Amis Cameron Environmental initiatives—beautiful indeed. The silhouette and ivory fabric with poetic sleeves and sideways trails recalls early silver-screen divas like Veronica Lake and Lauren Bacall. “I wanted a dress that was timeless, sexy, and inspired by Old Hollywood,” says Bass. “My stylist, Andrew Gelwicks, immediately thought of Zac Posen. From Precious Lee’s observations of Vogue World, I’m already a fan of his work.”

Since this is the first time Bass Appearing at the Oscars, Posen strives to achieve what he calls “a star is born moment.” For more than two decades, Posen has built a reputation for stars crafting the biggest red carpet opportunities. The romance between Young Hollywood and Posen came as no surprise, as his signature romantic style conjures up fantasies about the glamor of movie stars of yesteryear. From Natalie Portman at the Star Wars: Episode II

premiere, to Rihanna’s performance at her inaugural Diamond Ball, Posen turns innocents into idols.

“I want her to be able to move easily and freely,” Posen said. “For Bailey, she exudes confidence in a soft, classic gown so that the director and producers can say ‘Who is that, she’s going to be good at this role or that!’”

The whole process took three weeks from start to finish, and the time was short. Due to the tight schedule, sustainable fabric options were limited. Posen, however, fell in love with a creamy silk called Tencel Luxe, a semi-synthetic textile made from modal and lyocell fibers.

To complement the gown, Bass wore Jimmy Choo shoes and a custom Kate Spade clutch. They were chosen because both companies have made significant strides towards sustainability in recent years by promoting recycling and recovering materials.

To complete the dramatic vision, Karina Milan gave Bath a stunning cat-eye, while Cassandra Normier( Cassandra Normil brushed her frizzy locks. “Ever since I 14, I’ve always dreamed of going to the Oscars,” Bass said as he prepared to leave the hotel. So emotional. I have cried many times. “
