The Backbone One is an officially licensed smartphone controller accessory that launched last year for the PlayStation version of the iPhone. Now, the same accessory is also available for Android smartphones.
The Android version of Backbone One – PlayStation Edition has the same basic design and layout as the iPhone version. You get the classic black and white design and face buttons that match the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller, though the joystick layout is different. You get buttons for menus and screenshots, and for launching Backbone applications.
The controller will drain your phone’s battery, but has USB passthrough to charge your phone while connected. There’s also a headphone jack for plugging in a wired earphone.
This controller works with native Android and iOS games, as well as PlayStation 4 and 5 games via Remote Play. The Backbone app helps keep all of this in one place, with perks like 1 month of Google Play Pass for Android or 1 month of Apple Arcade for iPhone, and 3 months of Discord Nitro.
The Backbone One – PlayStation Edition for Android is priced the same as $23.99 as the iPhone version.
