Vitor Belfort’s next foray into boxing appears to have been found. The former UFC 12 champion, UFC light heavyweight champion and multiple title contender left the Octagon in 2018 and said he intends to retire from MMA.
Signed a contract with ONE Championship shortly after, but failed to return before Belfort parted ways with promotion. Instead, in the years since, “Fei Hong” has turned his attention to a budding boxing career.
The Brazilian took his first attempt at boxing in 2006 and soon began the process with a KO win. In 2021, he returns for an exhibition match against boxing legend and undisputed former two division champion Evander Holyfield. Belfort, then 44, dispatched Holyfield in just 1:49 of the opening round.
Celebrity boxer KSI fights two opponents on the same night at the recent Misfits & DAZN X-Series boxing event – heavyweight Hasim Rahman Jr. announced on the air , he will meet Belfort in the ring on October 15.
Rahman Jr., son of former heavyweight boxing champ Hashim Rahman Jr. made headlines recently when a planned PPV fight against Jack Paul took place this year August fell apart. To the Mirror recently, Rahman Jr said that while the fight against Belfort might not have the same cache as the Paul bout, he thinks Belfort is a more formidable opponent.
“It’s not exactly Jake Paul, but I believe my opponent is 20 times better than Jake Paul, better than 50 times better than anyone Jake Paul has ever beaten,” Rahman Jr. enthused. “KSI said earlier in his press conference that his goal was to expose Jack as his false and fraudulent actions, I’m on the same page.
“I’m chasing him, but I’m not going to wait for him, I want to get the car up, put my feet down and keep an eye on the pulse of all the ongoing YouTube boxing extravaganzas. I’m stuck right now and it’s hard to get me out. “
