Ayo Edebiri won Best Supporting Actor in a New Screenplay Series at the Independent SpiritAwards for his role in The Bear.
“I really didn’t prepare any comments, my manager gave me a piece of paper,” Edebiri began her acceptance speech. “I just want to say, I really appreciate it. Yeah, it’s really nice and cool.”

“I grew up and no one looked like me or felt like me,” Edebiri continued. “It’s really great because I’m in a room full of people who I really admire and respect, but also have a lot of people who look like me and feel like me, which is really great.”
