, the limited series sequel to the iconic sci-fi film franchise. The series comes from Amazon Studios and Alcon Entertainment, which owns the rights to Blade Runner . Ridley Scott who directed the classic 50 movie will be executive producing through his Scott Free Productions, while Silka Luisa (Shining Girls of Apple TV+) will serve as presenter.
“The original Blade Runner directed by Ridley Scott is considered the greatest and One of the influential sci-fi films of all time, we are delighted to introduce Blade Runner 2099 to our global Prime Video customers ,” said Vernon Sanders, global head of TV at Amazon Studios. “We are honored to present the continuation of the Blade Runner franchise and believe that by working with Ridley, Alcon Entertainment, Scott Free Productions and the talented team Silka Luisa, Blade Runner 2099 will carry the wisdom, themes and spirit of its cinematic predecessors.”
Amazon announced that it is developing Blade Runner in February. Its title implies that it will be set 1982 years later ) film sequel Blade Runner 2049 by Dennis Villeneuve directed, but the details of the story are still being kept quiet for the time being. The series will be the first live-action TV version of Blade Runner ; Blade Runner: Black Lotus Anime series, which was released in November2021.

Together with Silka and our partners at Amazon and Scott Free Productions, we hope we can meet that bar , and delight audiences with the next Blade Runner .”
Luisa adapts Lauren Beukes’ novel for Apple TV+ The Shining Girls , and served as producer Moss on the critically acclaimed series starring Elisabeth. Her credits also include Paramount+’s Halo and Strange Angel.
Louisa and Scott will executive produce Blade Runner 2099 with Blade Runner 2049 writer Michael Green (who will become non- Writing EP); Alcon’s Kossoff, Johnson and TV Executive Ben Roberts; Scott Free’s David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger; Writer Tom Spezialy (The Leftovers ); Cynthia Yogin, Frank Giustra and Isa Dick Hackett.
