Brendan Schaub encourages Leon Edwards to take on Jorge Masvidal next: 'Mission done'

Brendan Schaub thinks UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards should face Howe next Erhe Masvidal.

“Rocky” just finished his fight against Kamaru Usman at UFC 278 earlier this month. The fight was a rematch of their previous UFC fight at Fox 17 in December 2015. In that match, Usman won by unanimous decision.

Seven years later, the British star has levelled the series one by one. In the fifth and final round, trailing on the scorecard, Edwards knocked down Usman with a devastating header. And just like that, he became the new UFC welterweight champion.

After the knockout round, Jorge Masvidal quickly started calling for the title. Although “Gamebred” lost its third straight, the comments intensified. The callout was inspired by their viral backstage brawl at UFC London 2019.

The appeal received mixed opinions from fans and experts. Fighter-turned-analyst Daniel Cormier said champions should ignore callouts. Masvidal, in turn, slammed “DC”.

However, the person who really liked the callout was Brendan Schaub. The fighter-turned-podcast discusses possible matchups on The Schaub Show. There, the former UFC heavyweight called on the champ to take the call.

“I would love to see Masvidal and Leon Edwards fight. If I were Leon Edwards, that’s what I’m fighting for. A, it’s the biggest fight. B, it’s not an easy fight, but it’s easier than Kamaru. Kamaru so in the rematch Popularity for a reason. History says Kamaru should win the second race…so, you would assume in the rubber race, if Kamaru focused, it would be very similar. Leon Edwards’ team knew that.”

Brendan Schaub continued, “I’m going to be obsessed with that Masvidal fighter. Masvidal vs. Leon Edwards, they’ll show what’s going on backstage and hype it up, and it’s going to sell really well. Also, it’s Masvidal. I know he’s a No. 1 and a No. 3 in the last four games, I don’t think so. Put him in. Masvidal vs. Leon Edwards, October, get it done.”
