Walking the red carpet for Cannes premieres is one of the festival’s most important parts — so Larson hasn’t skimped on fashion. She kicked off the opening ceremony in a look from Chanel’s Resort 2023 collection; it featured a thin dress embroidered with gold and silver sequins and rhinestones Gauze tunic worn with a gold beige cotton voile dress. “The gold dress was perfect for that moment because it reflected all the feelings I was feeling at the time,” Larson said. “Elegant, playful and strong, but also serious and even a little fragile.” She accentuated the look with Chanel fine jewelry, including 18-k gold and diamond earrings.

Larson also leans into the Old Hollywood aesthetic, wearing a quieter all-black Chanel outfit. At last week’s Chopard dinner, Larson wore a cropped plunging black georgette gown from the Chabel Resort 18 collection; at this week’s Kering ( Kering’s Women in Motion dinner, the star wore a silk muslin dress with a black silk organza cape from Spring. Just last night, at the premiere of Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City , Larson was obsessed with an embroidered silver and black rabbit Patterned flared Chanel Couture dress with white silk tulle ruffles and silver feathers. “It has a very ’18 feel, and I think it’s playful for a Wes Anderson movie premiere,” Lal Sen said. “Also look closely, the black and white beaded panels are joined by rabbits; I love that special detail.” She again wore Chanel fine jewelry, including the top of the show 20-k White Gold and Diamond Camellia Necklace.

As she walks more and more red carpets, Larson says she’s starting to see clothing as another way to tell a story. “Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing people who have helped change the way I think about fashion,” says Larson. “It’s not just about wearing a nice dress. If you look back at some of my media tours, we’ve made deliberate and sometimes subtly nods to the movies we’re promoting. Find the little details and use them to help tell the story , which is something I’ve come to enjoy – it makes planning and finding looks a lot more fun.” Considering the cast will be in chemistry class and Marvel This year, she has a lot of fashion research to start with.
