Brito’s next lesson: Bounce back from adversity
NEW YORK — Jhony Brito’s calm and confident demeanor were assets in his first two major league starts, two wins. Now the Yankees right-hander has to prove he can bounce back from a bad situation.
Brito was hit by seven runs in the first inning Thursday and lost the game in the Yankees’ loss to the Twins, 11-2, at Yankee Stadium.
The 25 year-old rookie faced nine hitters, only two retired, and Minnesota gave up He changes up and thumps his sinker and his four-seam fastball. Michael A. Taylor hit the first of his two home runs to chase Brito, who allowed six hits and a walk.
Trevor Larnach lifts a sacrifice fly before Jose Miranda, Donovan Solano and Christian Vázquez all rope doubles to beat Brito who limited Giants and Orioles with a single and five hits. Taylor hit a two-run homer in the third inning off Colten Brewer.
