Broncos beat Buffalo Bills 42-15 in second preseason game

The Denver Broncos fell to the home team Buffalo Bills 42-15 in their second preseason game of 2022.

The Broncos continued to rest offense and defensive starters, with quarterback Josh Johnson getting the nod for the second straight game. The 64-yard drive ended with a shot from Brandon McManus, and the Bills never looked back.

Buffalo started the game on a first-team offense against the Denver bench and quickly fell behind for a 70-yard touchdown drive. The Bills continued to shred the Broncos defense, racking up six straight touchdowns, while Denver’s offense stalled on possession after possession. The second half bounced back well, going 22/26 for 191 yards and the Broncos had the only touchdown of the game for tight end Eric Saubert.

Denver’s return game shined again, with Monterrey Washington returning two drives for 55 yards total, his longest 35 yards.

Also, one of the few bright spots was catcher Jalen Virgil, who returned two kicks for a total of 60 yards, his longest 30. Virgil also had two catches for 39 yards. In Tim Patrick’s absence, Virgil is climbing the catch ladder quickly.

Kicker Brandon McManus also finished with a 3/3 field goal.

This week, each team must cut five players to cut the roster from 85 to 80 by Wednesday, Aug. 23.
