Alabama overcame a sluggish offensive performance to go 20-19 won, surviving an upset Texas bid Saturday at the Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium. Defending Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young endured his share of struggles, but it matters most when it comes to life. With 10 seconds left, he had a 61-yard drive in 79 seconds for the game-winning shot in nine games.

As impressive as the final possession was, it might not have been Young’s best drive of the game. The junior star had 68 of 75 yards in 11 games early in the fourth quarter, culminating in a touchdown catch by Jahmyr Gibbs to give Alabama a 17-16 lead.

Oh. mine. word. Bryce Young ducks and submerges to avoid getting fired. Possibly saved games. His last two drives were Heisman-worthy.

Bryce Young is still the damn guy.. his WR is not playing very well, Young is different..
Extend the game, watch the court, he’s hard to defend..

This is one of the worst red tide performances in recent years. It marked the second time since 2018 that they have been held to 20 points or less in the regular season.

Jess McClellan did have an 81-yard touchdown in the first quarter to give Alabama a 10-3 advantage, but he The other 5 carries of 16 are obtained.

At one point in the fourth quarter, Alabama had more free throw yards (100) than passes Ball yards. Usually the stout secondary gives up 292 yards and 8.6 yards per attempt.

Texas doesn’t even have Quinn Ewers available for most games. The redshirt freshman was left with a noticeable shoulder injury in the first quarter after being hit by Dallas Turner.

The game against Alabama seemed to work, and Young beat a good opponent on the road to lead his team to a victory.

Things will almost certainly get easier next week. The Crimson Tide will host Louisiana Monroe at Bryant-Denny Stadium on September 17.
