Nia DaCosta’s Hedda Gabler film adaptation of Hedda Adding Callum Turner.
Turner will join Tessa Thompson, who will play the titular character in the Henrik Ibsen classic. (DaCosta and Thompson previously worked together on their directorial debut Little Woods .) Eve Hewson will also star in the project.
DaCosta wrote and will direct the film from MGM’s Orion brand and Plan B, the same film as Sarah Polley’s Oscar-winning Episode Women Talking. DaCosta and Gabrielle Nadig will produce with Thompson, who produces through her Viva Maude label. The executive producers are Viva Maude’s Kishori Rajan and Michael Constable.
Ibsen’s original novel centers on a newlywed daughter of a general who is disillusioned with both her life and her marriage.
Turner, endorsed by WME and UK’s Curtis Brown, will be featured in Apple’s upcoming World War II aerial Masters and Sports Drama Boys on Board . He was last in theaters with Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secret .
