MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes says news about Carey Price’s knee is “frustrating” and the star goalie may not play this season.
After acquiring forward Sean Monaghan from Calgary on Thursday, Hughes said Price is unlikely to return without first surgery and recovery alone may not enough.
After helping the Canadiens reach the 2021 Stanley Cup Finals, Price, 35, has suffered numerous setbacks in his return to the game. He underwent knee surgery last summer and sought help with substance abuse from the NHLPA/NHL Player Assistance Program in October.
Price has four years left on his contract worth $31.25 million.
