Great news for major red carpet fans: 2023 The Cannes Film Festival has officially kicked off in Cannes, France. The annual event premieres and screens some of the year’s most discussed films, producing one of the world’s most extravagant steps and repeats. It’s a stylish event to rival the Oscars and the Met Gala, and definitely more formal than other film festivals like Venice or TIFF.
We’re sure to get some top-notch La Croisette fashion, thanks to a star-studded lineup of new items. Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City starring Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Tilda Swinton and Margot Robbie ; Todd Haynes’ May December featuring Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman; Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon 2023 Hosted by Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro and Brendan Fraser. And if all those names weren’t enough, there’s the 2023 Cannes jury, which includes Brie Larson, Paul Dano and Julia Ducournau.
After all, Cannes has a history of delivering riveting style moments. Glamorous moments from the past few years include Diana, Princess of Wales Catherine Walker gown, Madonna Jean-Paul Gaultier Cone Bra and Atelier Versace Sunny Gown by Amal Clooney 2016. Most recently, model Bella Hadid caused a stir with her 2016 Schiaparelli couture dress and gold lung-shaped breastplate.
