what? You didn’t expect Albert Pujols to be very personable?
Albert Pujols hit 702 with 2,214 hits and TIES Babe Ruth, second all-time.
Puyols announced in March that the 2022 season would be his last, and he was going out of style. The 42-year-old has hit 16 home runs since early August, bringing his season total to 23. His quest for 700 home runs is a good story for the second half of the season, and he still has time to continue adding to his legendary resume.
Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers was Pujols’ last regular-season home game at Busch Stadium Contest. Along with catcher Adil Molina, who also retired at the end of the season, Puyols was honored before the game. Mayor Tishaura Jones announced that October 4th will be known as Yadier Molina Day and October 5th will be Albert Pujols Day in St. Louis.
“To all of you in Cardinal Nation, the best fans in baseball – thank you so much for your support, all the joy , all the tears we shared together,” Puyols told the home crowd. “I love you all. You will always have a special place in my heart. God bless you all.”
Red The Cardinals won the NL Central for the second time in four seasons and will be the No. 3 seed in the 2022 playoffs. St. Louis certainly expects Pujols to continue to do wonders in the playoffs.
