Casa Cruz is about to become New York's most glamorous new restaurant

Then there’s the interior, wrapped in green velvet, gilded metal and curved Brazilian cherry wood. The windows are decorated with chinoiserie curtains and the roof terrace is covered with colourful tents designed by Johanna Ortiz. Meanwhile, in a nod to Santa Cruz’s own Chilean heritage, the bathroom walls are adorned with custom de Gournay murals of different South American landscapes. The effect is not only very captivating, but very moving. “When you enter,” Santa Cruz said, “you leave New York.”

Casa Cruz is set to Catalytic 9 Open Upper East Side Nightlife : Cruz didn’t choose a midtown Manhattan or Brooklyn space, but decided on the ’60s East because “there’s no ; in terms of fun, there’s not much that residential areas can do,” he said. “I’m a bit of a contrarian.” Indeed, the Aman Jazz Club recently opened a 5-minute walk from th Street and London 5 Robin Birley of Hertford Street will open a new private members club a few blocks from Casa Cruz sometime next year.
