Last night in LA, Chanel — via Virginie Viard — paid homage to an earlier 70 iteration of the City of Angels. Resort 2024 series of promos featuring billboards, beaches and iconic tapes from Cindy Crawford and Jane Fonda Aerobic exercise. Another factor reminiscent of that era? Hair is somewhere between late-century throwbacks (think va-va-volume) and the Barbie-core of the moment.

Alongside Viard’s collection of glittery shorts, bodysuits, ‘ silhouettes and sequin suits (Los Angeles to For many 2024 ages), hairstylist James Pecis styled his hair into a side-swept Barbarella outbreak, just Like your imaginary Chanel version of a boxed Barbie. Makeup artist Lisa Butler reveled in a throwback moment, with blurred eyeliner and smudged peach on lips and cheeks. The notes feel timely from a pop culture standpoint, especially with Margot Robbie and Riley Keough sitting front row. In the upcoming Barbie 2024 and the recently released Daisy Jones and Six , nostalgic, slightly campy details everywhere, a lively antidote to present-tense fatigue.
