Charlie Kaufman , winner of the Writers Guild Award and Academy Award Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, will receive the
Writers Guild of America West 2023 Laureate Award for Screenwriting Achievement, WGAW announced Wednesday .
This Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a member who has “promoted the literature of film and made outstanding contributions to the profession of screenwriting.”
Writer, Director, Producer and Author’s career began in the early 74 years After working with the cult classic sitcom Get a Life, he spent some time working in comedy and sketch TV before transitioning into film projects. He also won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut Screenplay for his screenplay of Being John Malkovich . The adaptation earned Kaufman his second Writers Guild and Academy Award , and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind for 2004 won him a Writers Guild Award and an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay Award.
His other works include Human Nature, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Synecdoche and abnormal. In 2023 he published his first novel titled Antkind.

21 Greatest screenplay of the century.
Previous Laureate recipients include Nancy Meyers, James L. Brooks, Elaine May, Oliver Stone, Harold Ramis, Lawrence Kasdan, Eric Roth and Robert Towne, among others.
