Outer Banks star Chase Stokes almost played another Netflix heartthrob.
John B. actor says he auditioned for the lead role in this mystery/thriller before he landed the lead role in Stranger Things Fan-favorite character Steve Harrington.
“So I actually read it for Steve Harrington, forgot all the lines, and definitely made the audition more efficient, ’” Stokes told Access Hollywood at Outer Banks fan event Poguelandia. “I drove eight hours from Atlanta back to Orlando and regretted every single moment of my life.”
Stranger Things The role of ended up going to Joe Keery, who Stokes said was “absolutely legendary”.
“He’s as damn good as Steve Harrington,” he added, of Carrey’s character. “I’m super proud of him. I’ve had some conversations with him over the years.”
While Stokes doesn’t have a major role in the sci-fi series, Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer gave the actor another role as a secondary character in the sixth episode of the first season. Outer Banks star credits Duffers for launching his career which ultimately led to He stars in the teen action drama, which was just renewed early in its fourth season.
“I am very grateful to Brother Duffer for giving me the opportunity to do my job and start my career,” Stokes concluded. “I mean, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them, the executive producers and Netflix people who worked on the show were also part of Stranger Things ). Yes It was a very full cycle moment for me.”
