'Check' Filmmaker Grace Bratton to Win at Outfest Fusion Film Festival

Outfest is gearing up for the 10 anniversary of the Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival.

The organization revealed on Tuesday the lineup of films to be screened during the 10 film festival and the news said The Inspection filmmaker Elegance Bratton Has been selected to receive the Fusion Achievement Award at the Opening Night Gala in March 20.

According to Outfest, the honor recognizes “individuals who have made significant contributions to LGBTQ+ visibility in stories, art and media.” Bratton has recently been touring Pope and Gabrielle for A’s The Inspection starring Jeremy Seoul Union. Inspired by his own story, The Inspection follows a black gay Man, he is rejected by his mother and has few options for his future. He then decides to join the Marine Corps, where he finds unexpected camaraderie, strength, and support in this new community, giving him a hard-won sense of belonging that will change his life forever.

Past honorees include Stephanie Beatriz, Michaela Coel, Nisha Ganatra, Angela Robinson, Wilson Cruz, Alec Mapa, Patrik-Ian Polk, Cheryl Dunye and many more.

The festival will open in March 20 and will run until April 2, including in-person and online screenings as well as free community workshops, networking events and the annual One Minute Film Contest. Passes are now on sale , individual tickets will be available in March 20 ). Outfest Fusion is presented by IMDb with additional sponsorship from Comcast NBCUniversal, Gilead, Fight Magazine, West Hollywood Tourist Board, Bank of America, Aster , Ovation Hollywood, ABC7 and On The Red Carpet, Clear Channel Outdoor and Variety.
