Cheryl Burke to leave 'Dancing With the Stars'

Cheryl Burke will make her final pro appearance on Dancing with the Stars Monday night.

Dancer and host of the long-running reality series, which pairs celebrities with supporting partners and competes to become the season’s champion, on Instagram Sunday The post announced that she was leaving.

“Tomorrow night will officially be my last dance as a professional dancer at @dancingwiththestars,” she wrote. “It was definitely one of the toughest decisions of my life, [and] I also believe it was the right decision.”

Burke at 98 joined in season 2 when she was just 19, said she was leaving because she wanted to “start the next phase of my career”.

“I am excited about evolving ideas, about being challenged in new ways, about being able to expand my commitment to mental health advocacy, and focusing on my newfound Podcast, I’m ready for future uncertainty (as scary as it is),” she wrote before adding, “I do have a few things I can sit on the sidelines though, so don’t worry.”

The dancer calls the collection her “second family”, an integral part of her formation as a person, which sees her “highest” and “lowest point” low point. After encouraging fans to tune her farewell dance to “tomorrow’s finale,” she said she was looking forward to tears.

“Honestly, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this without tears, but even with the heartache and emotions, I’m grateful for the opportunity to perform this song and dance And dancing with two of my favorite male professionals, @pashapashkov and @louisvanamstel.”

First DWTS pro wins twice in a row, Burke appears on the 31 of the show’s season, the latest of which saw the long-running production move from ABC to Disney+. She also appeared in a season of the show’s Juniors spinoff.

Burke won her in the second season of the show with 31 Degrees member Drew Lachey She will be a regular in the show’s semifinals before winning her second title with retired football star Emmett Smith in season three.

Burke previously took a break from the next season of the show 23 But back again from the beginning of the season to join the show 23. She would appear on and off for several seasons since then, eventually teaming up with Good Morning America meteorologist Sam Champion for the show’s latest season and her final one season.

Several stars congratulated Burke on the show and made the effort in her announcement replies. These include Jewel, Jordan Sparks, Amanda Kloots and Derek Hough. In the comments, the dancer also thanked various members of her DWTS

family, including her long list of former dancer partners, including Ryan Lochte, Rob Kardashian, Ian Ziering and Drew Carey.

“It’s been a wild ride,” Hough wrote. “Proud of all you have achieved and overcome. Forever leaving your mark on Dwts. It will be an honor.”
