Co-directed by Cui Rui and Liu Xiang, Zhu Yilong plays a man whose wife (played by Janice Man) mysteriously disappears while they are on vacation to celebrate their wedding anniversary. She pops up shortly after, but the man insists that this strange woman – despite her resemblance – is not actually his wife. The lawyer (played by Ni Ni) was involved in this bizarre case, and more mysteries slowly surfaced.
Endless Love is a love romance film starring veteran actors Ni Dahong, Hui Yinghong, Tony Leung and Ye Tong. The film premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival earlier this month to rave reviews.
Old Hollywood flicks grabbed several other top spots at the Chinese box office during the holiday season. Paramount’s Transformers: Rise of the Beast was third with $8.3 million from Friday to Monday. Three weekends later, it has made 30 million dollars. In fourth place was “Never Say Never” , the Chinese TV series about a mixed martial arts instructor who helps rural kids pursue their dreams, which took in $9.4 million in a massive preview income. The highly anticipated movie, directed and starring Wang Baoqiang, will be released on July 6.
Warner Bros.’ DC superheroes disappoint The Flash is a few steps behind with $3.4 million gross and $7 million total Ten thousand U.S. dollars.
Chinese Studio’s next work will be Indiana Jones: The Dial of Fate in June . The Raiders of the Lost Ark franchise doesn’t have the nostalgic appeal in China that it does in much of the West, so local analysts are lowering expectations for the film.
