China says U.S. EV subsidy rules allegedly violate WTO rules

BEIJING (Reuters) – China says the U.S. “Inflation Reduction Act” is suspected of violating WTO rules and will take measures if necessary to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesman Shu Jueting said on Thursday.

China will track and evaluate the implementation of the law, Shu added.

A new law signed by U.S. President Joe Biden last month removes the federal tax credit for electric vehicles (EVs) produced outside North America.
