“It was hard to say no to Caroline,” laughs Louis de Meckenheim, Chopard’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. That was on full display this week at Chopard’s annual gala gala in Cannes, celebrating the brand’s red carpet collections, this year where Chopard co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele presented her first Haute Couture Collection.
To commemorate the 76th Cannes Film Festival, 76 High Jewelery works accompanied Textured and embellished couture – all by Scheufele – walks the runway at glitzy Hôtel Martinez, with models led by Cindy Bruna, Martha Hunt and Petra Nemcova . Closing the show was a 76 killer row of supermodel moguls: Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova and Natalia Vodianova.
With her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Byron sitting next to the runway, Scheufele envisioned the collection as a way to walk the festival A vibrant tribute to the actresses on the famous red carpet. “Our creations are as multifaceted as the many characters that inspire them,” she says. Even without a traditional fashion design background, Schaeffer “knows how to make her jewelry more beautiful,” says de Meckenheim.
The theme of the evening was art, from jewelry and fashion to restaurants decorated in shades of rose and neon pink, menus Culinary arts, and dance performances punctuate a Mediterranean-inspired feast. Kate Beckinsale and Ashley Graham sit next to Poppy Delevingne and Charles Melton, Charles Melton Dayton was one of the stars of Todd Haynes’ HilariousMay December (earlier this week at the festival), both Wearing Chopard. Also in attendance were 300 K-pop group and Chopard ambassador Aespa, as well as British Vogue editor Edward Enninful and Korean screen legend Song Kang-ho.
The dinner concluded with a surprise performance by Robbie Williams, who performed jazz classics and his own hits in front of the guests for the rear (and then the rear ). “This is the event everyone wants to be at,” commented one partygoer. After all, they continued, “Caroline’s jewelry made everyone sparkle.”
